I don't know how many those will go but all diesels maintained right and not cowboy'd should last 1 million at least. I wore out a 2000 379EXHD Pete it's got 1.7 million and never had the lower end opened up. Cummins N14.

I figure if he is still using it it has to be good espically going thru 4 states. I need to upgrade from my dodge dually 375k with a 3 car trailer. Dot has been braking my balls in the past year. they are telling me they hate these pickup wanna be semi hauler. they dont think their are safe for the road(electric brakes dont work, no class a, bs gooseneck ready to snap off) I was like i'm am under 26klb and am owner operator if i dont think it safe i wouldnt drive it. they all tell me if you want to be in this business get a bigger truck with air brakes and you have no problems with use.

If the engine has more than about 12,000 hours you are due for overhaul. Other than that it would be a good truck. The engines are relatively cheap to overhaul anyway.

do they have an hour clock on them. Also did 2005 have an egr

Yes, and yes. 2004 model year and up will have EGR. Those ones aren't bad and relatively simple and don't have the problems the Maxxforce series has. I wouldn't be afraid of it because of that. To see the engine hours you push the button near the LCD display to switch between the odometer and hours.
