After the compressor is done building pressure and it purges the air dryer it continues to pump air out the purge on the air dryer. Sometimes just for a minute sometimes till the next pressure building cycle starts. Any ideas??? Someone told me maybe the unloader valve on the top of the compressor head.

check the air line from gov to air dryer if it leaks it will cycle also might be time to replace cartridge and purge valve on dryer
-
When's the last time you changed the cartridge (air dryer filter)?
-
I changed the cartridge early summer late spring.
-
I see your location is listed as WI..... Could freezing be the problem ?
-
No it does it even when I'm in Florida.
Cat sdp Thanks this. -
Change the purge valve.

If your always losing air out of the purge valve of air dryer the problem is in the dryer. I've never had any luck paying someone else to rebuild a dryer. Your better of just going with a new one .
New cartridge , purge valve and heat element all at once..... -
I talked with someone at the dealership and he suggested the unloader valve since the purge valve is supposed to be open when the compressor is not suppose to be building pressure. The kit is only $88 so I'm going to give that a try. And a new dryer cartridge.

Nice. Come here for advice, then go against the advice and do what the parts jockey suggests. Please let us know how it turns out.
