Last week speedo read no data link. Took as many grounds and connections loose and cleaned. Batteries too. Put it back together...all good...until yesterday. All gauges intermittently drop out and the flashing dash lights like no datalink. But now it doesn't say that. It resets on it's own, sometimes good for 2 hours, others two minutes...I plan on keeping this old truck for several more years and would like to bulletproof this problem, but at a loss on where it is. Any advice, much appreciated...

Datalink wires run outside the firewall at the big connector on the right hand side, and then that harness is tied to the outside firewall above the exhaust and then runs over the engine. Lots of places there for wiring to rub through. Your datalink wires are black in colour and usually twisted pairs. Open up that harness and check those out. Also, if this truck had an old satellite system that was removed, it is possible the old antenna was just cut and now exposed wiring is corroded.

Would this apply to 2005 9200i with the EXACT same issues as well?

Yes it would.

Hello. I have the same truck with the same problems. Wondering if you ever resolved this issue. I would like to pick your brain a little if possible.. Thanks.
