2006 Volvo d12 Egr code cause no engine brake?

Hi guys trying to track down a problem.

2006 vhd ve d12

exhaust brake works
Engine brake does not.

only code is mid 128 sid 266 fmi 3

our question, would the Egr valve 2 code cause engine brake to not work? Also our egts are very high, replaced the sensor and the gauge fluctuates now.
