At the very least, bring it up to operating temp and keep it there for 30min or so and then take an oil sample following the instructions with the sampling kit. Kits can be purchased at Cat dealer, Speedco and from various other labs. Maybe someone will chime in other choices. It is not very expensive and can identify coolant and fuel and other contaminants at very early stages. If it comes back clean and you decide to purchase the truck you have a baseline test to compare to a future test that might give you an indication of how fast the engine is wearing and where. With 950k an inframe is probably in the foreseeable future but those tests might guide your decision and possibly save you from a catastrophic failure.

You'll soon have 80,000 in it after the $45,000 overhaul. You can eliminate some engine weight too though while at it.

???? 20k max and i would do a complete engine swap a before that. Where do you even get 80k from. Used trucks aren’t all money Pits

Good luck on the potential purchase. If it all works out you have a great asset, with a proven engine

Congrats on the purchase and the bobtail home. Can you post pics? What type of work are you looking to do with it?
