Hello All!
I am looking at buying a 2007 International 9400i with a C15 ACERT 435 h.p. (twin turbo). This is a former Ryder Fleet truck.
I inspected it today, drove it, ect. The idle oil pressure was 21-24 lbs @ 170 degrees. The operating oil pressure was 55-60. Everywhere I read, this raises red flags. The truck has 422k miles, 14.5k hours.
The truck is in great shape. Asking price is 29k even. It is literally road-ready with very minor flaws. For $3,000.00 it comes with a full one-year warranty.
I am lost with deciding what to do. Ryder will not touch the engine, only DOT items, so there is no hope of having them tear into it, or anything of that nature. Thoughts?
EDIT: It is also showing a check enging light when operating occasionally, but the code is showing 55 - no ECM code stored.

If you get it you will need a tune to get anything over 5mpg
-
Those oil pressure levels are normal if the truck is warmed up.

My friend drives a 07 387 with the same engine all stock no tune and gets 6.5 mpg. Pulling a reefer.

I got 5.8 with mine and I never let off the pedal and was at gross most of the time but if you do decide to go further give it a good look over especially the exaust manafold and the turbo look for cracks broken studs and leaks

I got 435hp 2007 stock no tune getting 6.8-7.0 at 78k-80k

engine light coming on? get it checked out before you buy. just my opinion.

Take it to a mechanic that you know/trust and have them look at it real good, even if it costs you a couple hundred dollars, I'd rather pay a couple hundred dollars vs thousands of dollars of things going wrong after I bought it.
