I haul frac sand in West Texas for a living, I'm looking to buy my own truck. I saved up 10 grand and I'm trying to buy a starter truck. I found a 2007 Freightliner Colombia 120 with a 12L Mercedes 460 engine. It has a Automatic 13 speed Eaton transmission. We typically haul 45-48,000 lb 2-3 times a day from the load out to oilfield location. Does anyone recommend this truck or any other starter trucks? Any advice would be appreciated.

Get a truck that is spec'ed for that work, you can ask others here what they use to give you an idea, then look for any truck that has those specs. Then consider buying a truck that passes a dyno/blowby test, an OA on witht he fluids, you can get an ECM dump printed and have some one look at it from front to back to say it is good or what is bad.

YOU do not want to buy something you need to dump money into if it breaks down or has problems when you buy it unless you negotiate the price down to cover those repairs.
