    RERM - Bobtail , from Texas to NYC close the 85mph! Turbo comes on about 1min after the engine starts! constant speed was good, not sure if the turbo kick in or out!

    BoxCarKidd - Thank you for sound advise, I have spend thousands already and I cant seem to find a shop/dealer I can trust. So I would like to learn from my own mistakes and fix my own truck. This is my first truck and I made some mistake when I purchased it; Please give me some examples on how to read the flash codes; Also I purchase a OTC 3418 and read the ECM codes: they were not clear from the last visit to the dealer so I cleared them and now only two code show:

    136 013 5 SID
    Brakes, Power Unit Retarder Control Relay
    Current Below Normal or Open Circuit.

    120 010 12 SID
    Environment Monitor Unit/Auxiliary Cab Climate Control Blower Motor Bad Intelligent Device or Component.

    You mention hooking up a laptop and run a good program, can you recomend a program I can purchase to give more detail info?

    snowwy - Thank you! I plan to continue with trucking since this is my first truck! But I want to be able to fix issues myself or direct someone to fix only items I know is bad! So I welcome any words of advise and direction as I start my journey!

    Your OTC tool should read anything that would show up on flash codes. Have a friend who brings a Nexig program that seems to work well on these units. I have seen it show faults our scanner would not and it does other diagnostic functions like turbo vane operation. Now that your codes are known maybe someone you knows a lot more than me will chime in but I don't see anything I would relate to low power. Sounds like lack of fuel, maybe check transfer pump psi under load. No boost no fuel, make air cooler tester( 2 short 4" PVC pipes with caps tapped for gauge at on end cut off valve and air fitting on other). 20 psi is enough, hoses tubes and cooler all at one time. But I would expect codes? Computer won't diagnose it'self, might try barrowing one to eliminate that

    To diagnose 2007 F. Columbia 14L, this is DDEC-5, you need DDDL sofware (Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link) and Nexiq USB link - this is the hardware - plug in your Laptop loaded with DDDL-6.5.

    For No Power, check: Fuel Lines, Fuel pressure, Turbo psi, (about 35-40 psi is OK) intercooler for leaks. Open intercooler and check inside condition for no restriction. In short check all the air lines from the exhaust to intake with a soapy spray bottle for leaks.


    The equipment you can get used on ebay. Search for Nexiq usb link with DDDL.

    Don't buy nexiq useb link on ebay. They are chinease clones. Buy it only from authorised dealer. I have one of cloned nexiqs. Its a junk. It gets disconected almost every time i used it. Plus some times it freezes the laptop. The original one is a perfect tool.

    There are many original Nexiq links on ebay. Just make sure you are not getting the clone. Ask for money back guarantee. Buy only from US sellers. New is $750, I have seen used original go for about $400. Even Amazon.com sells clones.

    you can recognize which nexiq is original. do you think first time buyer can recognize the original one? 90 % they can't. . People forget ebay if you are first time buyer of nexiq. go to apexinds dot com ( or check on nexiq web site who is official retailer ) and get one from there with warranty. I am not from apex and I am not theirs agent.
