2008 international dt466 durastar camshaft damage

    I cant belive this my 2008 towtruck with 180k miles has a damaged camshaft its had 2 egr coolers replaced under warranty now this camshaft is not under warranty this truck is in the shop like 3 times a year ipr sensor h/p manifold gasket unbelievable its a #### lemon u think I have a case here

    Pretty common problem for the Maxxforce DT, 9 and 10 engines. The problem is not the camshaft itself, it is the lifter guides that break, allowing the lifter to spin in its bore and flatten the cam lobe. International's fix is to use 2 guides per lifter pair, instead of one, which seems to be working fine so far. I dont know if you have a case but I bet if you are professional about it, and talk to the service rep for that area, you may be able to get some help. Good luck.
