2008 sterling gauges inop

I have a 2008 sterling truck and over the past few years the gauges would stop working. When the problem occurs the gauges will do the sweep at start but will not read. The tach, speedo, oil, water all show no reading. The air and fuel gauges read properly as they are mechanical not getting info from ecm. Usually the problem goes away quickly and wont reappear for months. However this time the problem seems to be permenant.

I have swapped the cluster with another sterling and same problem exists. I believe it will be a issue between the cluster and the ecm just wondering if there is a common issue as I see a lot of forums with the same complaint. Fuses have been checked and are good. I also checked ohm reading on the yellow and green wires at data port plug as I have seen in other forum and the result was 60ohms which is where it should be. Any help is appreciated.

 

Hello Jarrod here is the vin Z07637. I would be interested in what info you could give me. I might have corrected the problem but I am not 100% sure as of yet. The cluster is working again but time will tell if it quites again as it has done in the past. I also had a abs code in the truck which turned out to be a J1939 fault shorted or open. Inspection of the meritor abs ecm showed moisture was entering the ecm through the porus aluminum case and defective o-ring seal in center. After ecm replacement the abs code is gone as well as the cluster is working again. I suspect the shorted j1939 circuit in the abs ecm was causing issues in the j1939 circuit of the cluster.
