Hey guys! My husband truck is jerking intermittently under a heavy load. The jerking increases while going uphill. Gas consumption goes down and only way to fix is to floor the gas pedal. It isn't throwing any codes. It's a 2008 Volvo vnl780 d13. Any ideas?

May be the clutch over heating
Cpervanic Thanks this. -
How much play is in the clutch pedal?

Injector cups!!!
Have the copper cups been replaced? Do the rpms flutter when this happens? Is the truck hard to start?dustinbrock and Cpervanic Thank this. -
On the batteries are some wireconnectors that send power to ecm. I think there were 3 on my 2006 780. Replacing the connectors fixed a similar problem on mine. (It was dropping injectors)

If runs fine on flat ground and begins to have issues on hard pulls or slight grade then I would say injector cups.
I had my done 3 times already and only 1 time it threw a code that was related to air in the fuel.BoostedTeg and Cpervanic Thank this. -
It's not happening when he is shifting so he doesn't think it's the clutch. While the truck is idle the rpms flutter at times. While driving He can hear the motor jerking. Only had the truck about 4 months unsure if copper cups. Leaning toward injector cups from what we've read and what it is doing. Does it give a code when those go bad?
Thanks for your help guys!! -
When we first got the truck it was doing it pretty often, even on flat. We ran some injector cleaner through it and it was fine. When we get a load 15000+ it would start jerking but not constantly.

Sometimes but then most times no codes. Take it to a shop and have them diagnose the issue.
