Hi. I got problem. while driving "stop" light turns on for like 2 - 4 secs and when i press gas pedal nothing happens, when light go off everything is back to normal.
Now same thing happends when truck is on idle, it dies if not in PTO mode, and "almost dies" when in PTO mode.
The fault code on engine says " power supply - data erratic" " MID 128 SID 251 FMI 2". Tryed to clean DPF at cummins dealer, nothing helps. So i guess this is not DPF problem.
Can anyone help with this issue?
Im at the volvo dealer in salt lake and they saying that is going to be about 4 days till they can put me in for diagnostics=(
Or maibe some one knows local shop who can fix it.

    Thanks in advance.
    P.S Sorry for bad english.

The ECM for your engine will get power straight from the batteries and also ignition power from the key switch when you turn it on. That code will log when the ECM is loosing battery power, but not ignition power. This is usually a bad connection in the ECM battery supply harness. This is a dedicated, separate harness from the batteries straight to the ECM. There are usually connectors and fuses at or near the batteries and one or more harness connectors between the ECM and the batteries. You can check this harness and see if there are bad spots, loose connections, corrosion or anything else that looks bad.

Intake manifold temperature. Value too high.

check intake air temp sensor. If it is good, high intake temp may be related with EGR leak

Hey Heavyd, would you be able to me, Please?
    I have an 08 Volvo, isx cm871.
It shut off while driving, didn't start back up till 5 hours later (after spraying ether in the air filter) it will run 3-7 miles and shut off, each time after it shuts off it takes 20 to 30 minutes to start again.
    Codes are:
    Mid 128 SID 251 fmi 2
ECM failure, ignition power lost to ecm

    Mid 128 SID 145 Fmi 2
    Cruse control, erratic data signal

    Everything I did so far:

New Main & secondary fuel filters
    New Crankcase filter
    New Coolant sensor
    Replaced Ignition switch
    Checked all:
    grounds
    wires - wiggle test
    Batteries - cleaned terminals
    Fuses
    Fuel solenoid has pin hole
Switched ignition relay w/ accessory relay to test.
    3 minute idle taken off

    Deleted all codes

The only codes now are the 2 mentioned above. I'm thinking bad ecm.

What else do you think I should do?
    Thank you.

It may be a bad wiring harness, under hood heat tends to destroy them.

    Volvo22 Thanks this.

Check really good the power cable from battery to ecm, the one that has the in line fuse down in the battery box. Check the fuse and take the loom down and see if corrosion has ate through the wiring. If it was, chances are it’s has corroded inside the wire for maybe even a couple of feet. Therefore causing intermittent to full time resistance in the ecm power supply circuit. Winter just passed, there’s a good chance this is it.

my friend had this same issue. We ran a new wire with in line fuse from battery, under truck, and spliced into wire harness about 8 inches or so from the plug into the ecm. All connections have to be made & heat shrinked real good. That was 3 years ago, he still rides like this now. Or you can get a brand new oem harne$$.

99.99% of the time it is bad wiring or a bad connection. I don't work on too many Volvos, so I can't help you further in regards to where they run the ignition wiring. I would reask this question in the Volvo section and hopefully someone there can help you better.

Thank you! I think I'm gonna try this!
Also one more thing - I took off the ecm and the ecm outlet smells burnt. Could that be from the wiring harness or could the ecm be fried? Thx.

i couldn’t tell you for sure, sometimes with smells it’s just the smell of handling it’s heat, and not burnt. But then again, maybe it is in a fried condition. To bad you can’t get ahold of a test ecm to try out.

Good luck and let us know what you find
