Morning all! I'm an O/O looking into a new tractor (it needs to be pre emissions and ELD exempt) and came across what looks to be a nice 2010 Pete 389. However upon further review it seems the tractor does not have a GGGG glider VIN. But it does have a 99 Cummins long block. It's appealing to me being that the engine is emissions free and would be ELOG exempt. However the VIN on the tractor would come back as an emissions tractor. My question is, will this pose an issue for DOT inspections, is it legal? Is this just a complete disaster waiting to happen? The dealer says it's fine and I'll have no issues. Sounds great until it leaves the lot, then it is my problem. Just starting out and I don't want to shell out all my money on emissions repair and I'll be traveling on car ferries very often so absolutely can not have ELOG as it will be 8 hours of down time total per trip on a ferry. Thanks in advance for any and all help. I'm still looking for a real GGGG VIN glider. Here is the truck in question. Please give me your thoughts. 2010 PETERBILT 389 - 794471 - Ohio Truck Sales

Mismatched tires, wavy lines in rear pass inside tire, 2 different battery boxes. Who knows what else is wrong. $80,000 and have $25,000 worth of issues. Better off buying an older junk truck for $12,000 putting $30,000 in it. And you know what you got. I would never buy that truck, and never buy a truck from them. Find a private party sale.
Deadendcruiser1 Thanks this. -
It’s not an ELD EXEMPT. 1999 and older are exempt.

That’s also an EGR engine. See the block off plate on the Intake? Not 99 engine.
Too many red flags for that kind of coin IMOAModelCat, wore out, Crude Truckin' and 2 others Thank this. -
Awesome! I appreciate all the help. All the answers I was looking for. Some things pointed out that I did not notice before. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a truck?
Emissions and ELD exempt
Preferably 6NZ
18SPD
60" or larger sleeper
280" or LESS wheelbase
I would love a 389 Glider if I can find one. If not I would be happy with a pre 2000 379.
Possibly even a W900
Cummins or C15 would be fine too. Absolutely no Detroit. -
Deadendcruiser1 Thanks this.

Offer them 50 if they raise the front end to level with the rears and put on a matching set of steer tires.
Deadendcruiser1 Thanks this. -
