I haven't been in these forums in a few years, but I'm back in a 2011 Pete with an Acert motor and it's the first one I've driven in my career, and I don't know a whole lot about it. It has the burner/spark plug setup and we've been having some issues with it.
It's under an extended warranty, so no modifications have been made to the motor, so my boss isn't going to gut it for a simpler running single turbo setup. A few weeks back, blew off the small 1.5" hose that goes from the front of the turbo to a control solenoid. 2 new clamps rectified this. I attached a similar picture for reference.
Driving the truck - it will start by holding around 30-34 lbs. boost. Kind of sluggish - doesn't seem like a real powerhouse for a 475. Then, every once in a while it will jump to 40+ lbs. of manifold pressure, and the noise from the air cleaners is insanely deafening - almost like ball bearings doing laps inside of them. Runs stronger, but I'll find myself backing out of it to quiet it down. It'll run this way, and seems to "shut back off" after you come into traffic, the radiator fan kicks in and cycles and then it's back to 30-34 lbs. of boost and peace and quiet.
I tried reading similar threads and Mr. Haney mentioned that most Acerts should be up around the 45psi mark, and from what I remember, he really knew his stuff. Truck isn't consistent with this, so I'm kind of miffed as to what is going on. I know he hasn't been around in a while, but anyone who could point us as to where to start would be a big help.

Sadly the SDP accert ran a lot of guys out of business and had lawsuits over the constant downtime .. hopefully you got a good one

Dear friend if you still have and drive your CAT SDP get rid of it asap.!! Hope you don't have big plans in the future driving it and making business with this engine. My life biggest mistake was buying an SDP 2008 C15 in a KW T660. 3 years of disappointments and almost put me in debt and bankruptcy. Don't listen to others who might tell you that you can do a delete of the emission. Waste of money and time.. That engine is a sink to poor money... There are much better engines to choose from like Detroit S60 or CAT before 2007 no later!! I'm driving a 2004 C15 acert twin turbo. It's still not the best engine on the road but I'm happy with my CAT. Detroit S60 is less expensive to maintain and a lot easier to work on. Don't look at 14 liter one. So you see I'm not trying to say CAT is the best. There are other good engines on the road.
