Hey Guys / Gals,
I have a 2010 Cascadia and the following is a quick sequence of events:
1. When the engine is under load, normally 40K+ the engine sounds like it is reving up, however, there is no power generated.
2. Once this happens I normally get a CEL, I get to a rest area, shut the engine off and the CEL disappears (NO CODES)
3. When the CEL lights come on the second time it is shortly followed by a yellow REGEN light.
4. I performed a parked / forced REGEN and it normally clears up.
Last night I waited too long and the REGEN light starts to flash - I attempted to perform a park / forced REGEN, however, was unable.
Brought the truck to Freightliner in Norcross, GA and they monitored the REGEN process.
1. Inlet temp pressure sensor got hot 900-950, Outlet temp sensor 500+ (system dozing)
2. I had the DPF filter serviced, however, the ash level was never reset, so they reset the ash level and...
3. Both Inlet / Outlet sensor not reading hot enough.
Freightliner tech is telling me the dozer pen is probably blocked with soot / carbon. ($600+) to have removed / replaced and pen hole cleaned out.
Is this the fix or is this a shot in the dark? Your comments / inputs are appreciated.

when last tom the DPF was cleaned? how many miles you drove after cleaning of DPF? DD15 ?

Hey Myhn, sorry bout that - I responded yesterday, but somehow it didn't post.
Well my DPF filter was serviced less than 100k miles ago. An update on my current dilema. After FL techs removed and replaced the DOSER pen and DOSER pen fuel line from the DOSER block - still no REGEN.
Now (yesterday) was told around 1130PM that my filter is the problem. A FL refurbished DPF is $890, however, if my core fails thier QC check I will be billed around 4K, making the purchase $5,000 for a FL DPF filter.
The other option that I had / chose is an aftermarket DPF filter ($2,200) no core.....
Currently sitting in the time out lounge at Norcross waiting for the filter to come in and will give you an input once this step has been completed.
Any thoughts? Thanksmhyn Thanks this. -
they do ATD Checklist first and then parked regen using diagnostic software. these procedures will show what part is malfunctioning.
It could be your filter was not cleaned good enough or just reached to life end.
keep us updated please. -
Just wanted to give everyone an update so I can close this thread out.
After installing the DPF filter, the outlet temp sensor would spike from 500 to 1000 degrees, so another sensor change and everything is working well.
I don't know if the sensor was the culprit from the get go, but now have an almost new dirty side EGR system on the truck, minus the egr valve / regulator and cooler.
I've been on the road for over a week now since the mx and haven't had any problems. Sorry for the delay, but been putting in many miles trying to recoup my investment.
thanks.
