How to release the transmission cooler hose fitting from the radiator? Volvo has special tool for the fitting but the tool is expensive and has to be order! Is there another type of tool out there? See pic...![]()

Pull green cap back carefully with screwdriver or maybe Chanel locks. The this is going to reveal a Type of plastic spring clips take a smaller zip tie put it around lock it up so all the clips get pushed in towards the line then u can just pull the hose out if this #### is rusty the it gets way to complicated u have to break the plastic or burn by warming up a pick with torch and melt it off hopefully they come out nice if not its a #####
Aaa trAnport, spsauerland and Dangratz Thank this. -
The best and easiest way is to heat the steel fitting enough to make the plastic soft, it will burn a bit so keep a wet rag close by incase. After 20-30 second grab a prybar and hammer or air hammer with a chisel end and hammer it out against the steel collar if it doesn't some out with a hit or two try more heat. You can get the new clips from the dealer with oring. I work at a dealer and that's how i do them every time. Even with the tool they tend to break so I don't waste my time on them.

I just a video where the mechanic used a hose clamp to squeeze the clips down to remove the transmission cooler.
