Hey Fellas, 2010 Peterbilt 387 ISX CUMMINS Eaton Fuller 10 speed Ultrashift Transmission. The transmission always whines. Never sounded like any tranny I drove before. Should I be worried or not ?

Lol....No, it was nice out. I had just got on 94 coming from Williston. Was 5 miles down the highway from Jamestown when it went. Tow bill was cheap and a shop 7 miles away. Shop guy gave me their pickup truck to drive and called hotel for a cheaper rate. Was there for 2 days and $6,200 later I was on the road with a rebuilt Weller 10 speed

I would have the gear lube drained and tested. If it still whines after the fresh gear lube I would have it looked at.

I think it's too late. A whine means a bearing is about to go

SO... I've been restoring an older 359 Pete, I put in 3.70 ratio rear ends, new transmission, the clutch assembly, u-joints and carrier bearings. The transmission is a RTLO 14615 with the forward overdrive knuckle buster special... Any ways it's a Weller reman. I've put literally less than six hundred miles on it and well, it's safe to say, something is really wrong.. I'm getting a really bad intermittent chatter from the transmission in high range. It started out only doing it at 1600 rpm and above at around 70 miles an hour in 15th gear. Now it's doing it less than 1600 rpm. Also the noise chatter goes away under load but once you let off the throttle it starts chattering again. It goes away while in neutral I believe.
2nd issue I'm finding is that I know that a little whine is common with these 13 and 15 speed transmissions but, I did take note that the whine is exceptionally loud with this one, far worse than my old one... Through all lower gears. It's bad enough you can hear it out side of the truck and from fourty feet away... So, Bad tranny?

I'm surprised your having trouble with a Weller. They don't just replace the parts that need replacing, they replace them all.

    Does it have a PTO?
I put a reman in one that the driver complained about. Had him go by where the trans came from. He said they put the whole truck up on stands and ran it in gear. Got all up underneath it and said the back box was whining. Replaced back box and said sometimes even a new bearings can whine, seen it before. No charge.
