2010 Volvo D13 Bull Gear Noise?

    2010 D13 Volvo 645k miles
    It's got 3 months old Air compressor.but now there is a noise when the air compressor building air and the noise stopes when the air compressor unloaded. volvo dealer said the grinding noise is coming from the bull gear.estimated repair costs $8000-12000 around 30-40 hrs labor. Very bad to have Volvo Engine no one willing to work on it in Atlanta area except the dealership itself

    I just had a bull hear failure on my truck, but luckily it was covered by warranty. Do not wait too long, because if it gets worse, you may end up replacing fuel and oil pumps, air compressor, bell housing and other parts, since the loose gears can start grinding against the engine body and dropping metal shavings into your oil.
