Good morning yall, I have a 2011 367 that wouldn’t build air this morning. It was cool this morning (40°) I figured that may have something to do with it. Even with the idle set to 900 RPM for 20 minutes the gauges just stayed at 0. I have a chuck on my secondary tanks and hooked up my shop air to see what it would do. Waited for the governor to pop off. Unhooked the shop air and pumped the brakes till parking popped back out. The primary tank built air to 100 but the secondary tank stayed at 0. (That’s usually when it starts to fill the secondary tank) gave it some fuel once it got over 10 pounds it started to fill and operate as normal. Any thought?

Spray down the cloth discharge line with soap and water. Most leak where the steel pipe or meet the cloth hose. I would suspect a leak or blockage in the discharge plumbing from compressor to dryer.

Air compressors wear out and cause slow build complaints.
While checking for leaks, it's much easier to do if you can use air from a different source, like an air compressor inside a shop.
I would do a quick check removing the supply line from the dryer. Start the truck and just see how much air is moving. Then do the same on the outlet side of the dryer and see if there is any difference. -

That could help identify a blockage and it's location -

update... Today I fixed all the leaks on the truck and replaced the air dryer, dryer cartridge and the governor. On the initial start up after the repairs it built air decently fast and cut out just as it should, I pumped the brakes to test the cut in. I heard the governor cut in but it would not build air. No psi gain for 5 minutes, then it started to pump again slowly and then sped back up like it was before.
The compressor on my truck has a discharge that runs to the air dryer and small unloader line that runs from the governor back to the compressor. My thoughts are whatever that air does inside the compressor to unload and load the compressor is not working as it should. I don't know it all that works in there and cant really find much on these compressors. -
Looks like yours was made in 2010 from the 1510, though the tags are slightly different.
These are Wabco unloaders. Does your truck have anything that looks like this? If not there is a reed valve in the head and head repair kits are sold. Given its age it makes more sense to replace the compressor/.
What about an air intake hose to the compressor? Make sure that is not kinked....

Correct and that is what I stated in post #2. I found out the same thing, can't find much on the Wabco's.Last edited: Nov 13, 2023
