SCR trucks require specific experience. We operate SCR trucks from 2006. So two years later mechanics will do all better

http://www.roadtransport.com/Articles/2011/03/17/138317/Mercedes-Benz-makes-Euro-6-engine.htm
so mercedes released new engine
generally what did you can say about it
from what i read here( on whole forum not only this thread)
it is weak , bad fuel economy , hard to find parts and all possible kinds of mysterious breakdowns
but comparing to old mbe4000 is it better or worst ( i am interested on our market how they will be?
and does anyone know how height is om501/2 and height of this new om471 ( since this is inline engine i am interested will actros still have flat floor inside )
thanks in advance -
yeah, MP4. They will start with OM471 and Detroit Diesel DT15.
It is the replcement for OM460, OM457, OM501 and OM502.
So Mercedes will switch to CRD technology next year. All PLD engines will be discontinued, becouse they are not ready for EPA 2012 and E6.
DT 15 is about 25-30 cm higher OM502. so they cant use MP2-MP3 cabines, MP4 cabine is installed higher like on Argosy, but they will offer Megaspace with flat floor and long cabines versions will be available.
CRD is not so reliabe and easy to fix as old good PLD, but more precigion, saves fuel and enviriument. Newer laws do not let continue PLD engines.... so farewell to PLD and classical pump unit injectors. -

DT15 -
I am with you on your maint program. I have a 95' intl w/ a 11.1 ser 60. I would trust it to go anywhere. I use lucas only with new service. 1 gal with new oil. I would recommend to you a oil pan heater. one day this past winter when it was 18 degrees in the morning my block heater was plugged in & truck started real quick, but the oil pressure gauge started to scare me when it took so long to rise. I just had inframe done 50,000 miles ago. so to protect engine, I bought a oil pan heater & man it makes a huge difference. oil press rises as quick as if in summer weather.it also pulls less current than the block heater. when you say you use no water in coolant... do you use straight coolant?Paddletrucker Thanks this.
