    OK.
Bobtailing to get my trailer this morning I managed to get it up to 38 pounds by hammering it in 8th gear at ~1600 RPM's on a back road. It got up to 34 pounds in 9th while merging onto the freeway. At idle it sat at around 15. And cruising it varied between 18 and 24, depending on the incline.

23 max is definitely not looking right. But, like you said, it's an estimate. Any idea what the ECM is estimating it from? Do you get the horsepower you expect?

    mhyn Thanks this.

That truck hauls light loads. The driver says it's looks like underpowered. I want to pickup a heavy load and drive it to see it pulls good or not(horsepower).
I really don't understand what is wrong with this engine. Checked everything. The last option is turbo swap.
I don't know how ECM estimates it.
    Thank You for replaying back.

Update. I picked up a 36K load. Cruising on level ground at 70 the boost is in the low 20's. But even the slightest incline send it up to between 38 and 42. Accelerating to pass does the same thing.

    Good luck.

I might have to get this tool as well, I started seeing low mpg’s After an oil change and what feels like lack of power.

So from what i read boost should be in the mid 30’s when accelerating ?

Also just want to make sure this is the gauge i need? I need the Scan Guage D version correct?

No. It doesn't even show non-active codes. And it won't clear an active one. There is a clear function, but it only clears a code that has gone inactive from the ScanGuage display. If you want to manage codes you should get the DDDL software.

    mhyn and magoo68 Thank this.

I think I know what the problem is. Are you monitoring the J1939 protocol or J1708. I have no idea why they give different reading for the BST gauge but they do. J1708 gives much lower values. I don't know which one is correct. But I'm guessing this is why your readings and mine are so far apart.

I remembered I had this problem before. The values for LOD were different.

I will drive the truck this weekend and check to see values on J1939 and J1708.
