I tried a different filter housing. Another Davco 382 and it did the same thing.
What about when I removed the filter and the air was gone until it came out of the to the primer bowl.
Could the pressure regulator be letting the pump pull so hard it causes cavitation through the filter?
I also removed and plugged that drain port, (no change).
I don't think it is pulling air in and it is not leaking any fuel.
I really don't know that's why I'm reaching out for advice.

So you bypass the Davco, problem solved. Replace the Davco, still have same problem?

I bought a different unit from the salvage yard but it lets air in to. Not quite as bad as my original but still to much air. I have used sealant on all the rings and threads so I am guessing these units are prone to micro cracks but just guessing. No fuel going out but air coming in.
I am looking for a replacement. Something simple with a spin on filter. Would you happen to know how many gpm's this system pulls? I cant find that number.
    Any recommendations?

Is this air in the fuel line normal? I cannot get it to go away. The tube on the left shows a steady stream of air just before it enters the fuel pump. There is zero air before the primary fuel filter and the air shows up after that filter. It is not coming from the primer bowl.
If I bypass the filter and connect to the primer there is no air. I wish I could post a short video.

Wow, I see your set up now. You really should have no air. I think the foam you are seeing is from cavitation or because the fuel is under a bit of a vacuum. I wonder if the micron rating of that filter is too low. Navistar recommends a micron rating of 25 for this filter location.

That filter is a new 30 micron. The secondary filter is a new 10 micron. I have tried several different filters and housings and always get the same results.
This is really kicking my butt. I am hoping that someone has seen this before and knows what the problem is.

    Heavyd,
Do you know if the flow rate is regulated? Maybe the system is pulling to hard and causing cavitation? If that is any possible.

Just pressure regulated as far as it know.

So that would be to keep it from building to much pressure and could not be my problem?
