I drove the PB 387 & 587 at May my first 3 years in the industry. The ISX motors had a lot of emissions related problems. Then again, most trucks did as they were fine tuning the particulate filter systems.
The ride is stiffer than the Volvos I've transitioned to these past few years. However, it's like anything, people develop an affinity and name brand identity. Nothing else will do.
For me, I've driven most of the brands out there. Eventually, something always goes wrong. No matter what brand it is.
They're mechanical after all.TRUCKEE411 Thanks this. -
11-13 were bad years for both Cummins & Paccar. Lots of regen issues and 2011/2012 Cummins had a bad fuel pump design and the ceramic lining can chip off and take out a cylinder or 2. If the pump & lines haven't been updated, it's an expensive update or you run the risk of taking out a motor.

ISX. Just lost a motor in a 2013 with less than 340k miles because of that pump in the bosses truck. Cummins helped on the price a little but was still an $18k check from the boss. Been in the shop 6 times since we got it back in November. This motor was just outside the recall serial numbers. Kenworth had the truck for 7 weeks for the crate motor replacement.
