I need to tap into the brake light switch circuit in order to install an electric brake controller, could someone advise me the best location to tap into? I don't have access to wiring diagram for this truck, does the brake light circuit run from the brake light switch to the turn signal switch then down to the brake lights?

What I do on my 387, was to but a "T" and a brake light switch. That way, I could put it anywhere I wanted. And where I wanted, was driver's side firewall engine compartment.
Find the "delivery" line on the door brake manifold, mine was green. Cut the delivery line and install the "T". Screw the brake light switch in and wire it up. Tap into one of the brake light wires, add a fuse and finish wiring per instructions. Just make sure you choose a wire on the cold side of the brake lights.
The wire harness that was used for the trailer, was long enough that it reached the end of the frame and I used it to plug my boat trailer lights into. Use the "blue" wire in the trailer harness for your trailer electric brake power.ast26909 Thanks this. -
This is how I ended up finishing. The license plate light is turned sideways, so it will light up the plug-in, so I can find it in the dark.

Thank you for your replies, that would be the 'hard' way but I guess it's the proper way because it will not interfere with anything. On these newer trucks I wouldn't be surprised if there is a computer module somewhere which receives the brake signal then turn on the brake lights, tapping into a module circuit could cause undesirable result.
