I had a similar experience with the newer Macks. I drove one for a little while a few years ago and I had no complaints. 80k pounds all day every day and that truck would just get up and go. I'm in NJ and the truck will be staying local so I'm probably looking at the some dealer coverage as you.

3k in tools not including a way to calibrate the injectors. Vcads or the Mack equalivalant isnt cheap. Vcads will be needed for Mdrive diagnostics as well.

Alot of money to tie up in tools for 1 truck
On top of buying a truck. As new owner operator you have to pick your battles.

Looks like it's a job that is a little bit more advanced than i thought. I should be able to get access to everything I need since my uncle runs a large semi shop but I'll keep a separate expense account a put some money away just for the injector cups when they need to be replaced.

It's a 2014 Mack CXU 613 w/ a sleeper, 450k miles, auto, good condition, will need new tires on the back. The dealer is asking $40k. Whats your take on this? Fair price or not so much?

Also, I will be financing my purchase. I want to put $8k-$10k down. I submitted a credit app through the dealer over the weekend. They were quite hesitant to talk about APR's. My credit is very good. No marks on it, at all. After some pushing they said the APR is usually in the "12% range, because a truck is a higher risk to the lender than a used car". 12%...... that seems very high to me. I was expecting something in the 7%-8% range. What has been your experience with used truck financing?

When i was in the market of buying a truck i seen a fleet of 20 trucks same model all had close to 2mill on them i was shocked

My D13 is at 1.1 million with no issues with the bottom end. At 933k head was replaced and 1.07m had the cam go bad. I have used Rotella T6 from 385k.
