Have a low miles, very clean truck throwing this code for a month now. Have went thru and followed all diag instructions per international service manual. coming up with no bad components. replaced IMP and IMT sensors. EGR valve was replaced. TCWC2 works good, no sticking, no binding, solenoid is not leaking. all the boost control lines are in proper order. no pinches or breaks. passed leak test for CAC. truck runs great. just seems a little doggy when taking off time to time.
Called and spoke with the local dealer and they said when they see this code they replace the IMP (intake manifold pressure) sensor and if still has the issue the remove both turbos to clean carbon off from them, Anyone else run into this before?
Turbo "coking" is very common and can cause slow or lazy boost build. This is caused from the closed crank case breather system that reintroduces crankcase gases back into the intake elbow right before the low pressure turbo. There is always some combustion by-products in this, and basically blow by gases which condense and burn oil and fuel gases in the turbo housings and gums them up. This also blows this gunk into the air to air and can also clog that too. Take your air to air hoses off and inspect the inlet to the air to air and see if oil coking has blocked off most of the air to air.
HeavyD, Ended up taking the compressor side of the turbos off and cleaning them, international had a service bulletin on it. They were pretty gummed up. Stuck a scope inside the CAC and found it to be free of blockages. the air to air and the water to air coolers. after re assembling truck i did a MAF re calibration and took it out for a test ride. runs great.
i also checked the crank case breather filter for proper operation. it spins for quite some time after shutting the engine down. i believe too much idle time is the cause this time around.
Hello fellas , I'm in the same ditch . DD15 cascadia 2015 with 1.9kms on it , throwing code spn 102 fmi 10or12 every two hours (boost pressure/inlet pressure too high). What hurts is ,its eating more fuel(7-8 gallons every 600 miles) . Turbo got checked . Going to clean delta p sensor in morning . What else you guys recommend ? Thanks in advance .
