Check engine light came on just bought this drove only hour or so and sat for 3 moths ready to go now and don't know what light is on for. Have a Nexas 102P code reader that I bought because it says it can do a force regen on this engine and I hooked up to see what the Check eng code was for and it said there was a communication error and to make sure this vehicle was obd2 compliant.
Tried the trick or pushing the two buttons on steering wheel cruise and dash says" diagnostic codes are not available from ECG" Any help besides take to a dealer?

Set it on fire. Sorry, but that truck is just the worst one can buy. There is a reason it was super cheap

Not very helpful but I guess you didn't say take it to a dealer.

You might try asking your question in the , International Forum. I believe @Heavyd has helped a few people with Maxforce issues

Who ever had had it before probably put a password on it so u can't go in there an see anything. Just go 2 the dealer an have them remove it an change the setting on the dash diagnosis. I would go with list stuff I want changed while they are in there

The protocol for reading codes is specifically HD-OBD, so your scan tool must be compatible with that along with J1939 datalink standards. Reading codes through the cluster was dropped by International a long time ago so you will likely need someone with Navistar Engine Diagnostics or equivalent to read what codes you have and troubleshoot from there.

Took it to Int. They wouldn't set so I could see codes just told me "those codes wouldn't help me without their sophisticated diagnostic tool" who cares it put me somewhere in the right direction.
