I own a Volvo 780 2008, D13 motor, got it new , I have 1,170,000 miles original motor still pulling great 8-10 mpg. Great team truck, comfortable lots of storage , good size fridge , quiet inside ; I would buy the 780 again plus Bose seat deal.

    I would go for Volvo

    1. Built in USA with a lot of European and US parts, against a 80% China and Mexico parts into a Freight.
    2. Their engines (Volvo) are proving around the world every day
    3. The same company is manufacturing the truck, engine and trans. So, they can match them like nobody else
    4. The fuel economy it is much better then a Cascadia. They claimed also to have better aerodynamics then Prostar and they lost. Lie to me once, never you'll get second chance.
    5. Cascadia is so ugly
    6. Freight it is a company who is saving any penny, on any truck they are building. really cheap
    7. I don't like water leaks inside my cabin. So, Volvo is getting the first option even only for that.
    8. Freight seems to be better on network dealers. But don't forget the big guys has a lot of Freights (because is cheap) so you will never get the first in line to Freight shop. And the parts availability is just a ########. I wasn't able to find a air ride valve rod at 3 dealers in a row. One of them sent me to a Kenworth dealer, where I've found that.
    9. Cascadia was designed with fleet buyers in mind. Volvo was designed with the driver in mind.
    10. They are claiming that they are testing each truck getting out. So, how do you explain so many recalls, and so many electrical issues, mainly on the engine side??? A lot of sensors problems
    11. Volvo has a lot more features then any Freight. If you want some of the Volvo has you will be shocked by the price.
    12. Volvo is a lot more fun to drive.
    13. Freight has cheaper parts then Volvo is just a myth. Ask a Freightliner dealer about some interior parts. I own a Columbia and I was about to have a stroke when I asked for the price. Actually when the guy behind the counter told me the price.
    14. The interior design into a Cascadia is depressive. Has no track of common sense, either. Looks to me that design was performed by somebody who never lived into a truck.

Volvo for sure. My 2013 has been trouble free, except for idiots backing into it... I shift, d13, 455. I had a 2011 Crapcadia, almost bankrupted me, ALWAYS in the shop, Freightliner are RUDE, told me I had to LIVE WITH IT when it came to some of the flaws they could not fix. I would never own another or recommend it to anybody. If Volvo isn't your first choice do a Prostar with a cummins.
    My .02.

    EVERYTHING WAS BAD.
1 Drivers door leaked. 3 dealers, I cat count the number of trips, nobody could fix it. If you had a wind hitting the cab from the drivers side in the winter, I had my parka stuffed between me and the door, left arm in the sleeve so that side of me was warm. Ended up with gorilla tape on all the seams and used the passenger door all winter THEY TOLD ME ID HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT.
    2. Truck NEVER regened properly. Delta P sensors every second week helped. Told me ID HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT it was all in spec. When it regened it surged etc. go to utube Cws1963 page and check it out
    3. Windshield leaked and corroded connections on SamCab module. NIGHTMARE. the dealer told me they has seen it lots before. Freightliner would do nothing. Wouldn't Admit it was the problem. Waited out my warranty. Told me to LIVE WITH IT. tho.. On 2012 models the put a rubber rain hood under the dash to protect the SamCam from water when the windshield leaked.... You could erase all the codes drive it for a week and print 2 FULL pages of codes.
    4. Sometimes when you started it every light would flash like the 4 ways wereon, shut it off , turn main battery power switch off, wait for SamCab to reset. Start it again.
My fi gets are cramped from typing on my iPhone but I'm sure you get the picture. It's a piece of junk. DON'T BUY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if I was going to buy a new truck, it wouldn't be a Cascadia.

One of the biggest reason is simple I think with the advance engineering we have today, a split windshield and a limited door opening size could be given more thought. I've been in a few of them, I just didn't like the way they felt. Volvo can improve on their interior fit and finish too but so can KW and the rest of them.

Cascadia looks better with the visor. I would buy Cascadia as a new truck because of better performance compared to Prostars DPF Maxxforce.
