2014 Volvo or 2014 freightliner Cascadia

I have been in the trucking business for 33 years, I recently had the tremendous opprotunity to drive the Freightliner Evolution with the new DT12 transmission. Hands down the finest powertrain combination in my 33 year carreer. More features than you can imagine. I am seeing fuel economy results easily exceeding 8MPG at 80,000gross. What else can i say, it is a great product. Dont forget the 50,000 mile service intervals for the detroit, that in it's self will save alot of money and create more profit keeping the truck out of the shop.

 

Volvo's have really bad feature. Get more than 400k miles and gremlins galore in the rain. You will be parked along the side of the road more than turning miles when its gremlins start coming out.

The electrical is notorious for falling apart when it rains.

 

One guy where my dad works, he has 2012 Volvo vn630 and everytime it rains, water leaks through the roof.

 

Gentlemanfarmer, Don't you think the 780 is overkill for flatbedding? Wouldn't the 730 be better suited for fb( better mileage)? Could you also tell me what your average weight is? Are you going all out with 48000# coils? Can you tell us what your specs are? Axles? Gear ratio? Weight of truck (power unit only)? Tires? etc Thanks
