Thanks Animosis. Now see if there's a relay present. We have air to the solenoid, but not out.

With 906 engine fan solenoid is directly controlled by PLD ECM, from 55 pin connector

BW vistronic clutch with feedback is rarelly used with 906 engine,

Usually daimler supply this engine with not controlled viscosy fan clutch. Yes, its speed depends on temperature, but no electronic control.

On heavier trucks with 906 engine they use one speed clutch.

I'm still checking things over, but now the fan is working. The HVAC blower motor is as well. I brought it's sister truck up to the shop to swap the solenoid over (easy troubleshooting rule-out method). I kept truck #2 running and disco'ed the fan's air line connection. Up to 150 with no air present. Switched on the blower motor and suddenly air. Truck #1 one had an initial issue of no HVAC blower motor operation (with swap too) and no engine fan op. Now both work (scratches head). The operators reported the truck got warm on a drive and smell of coolant, which tells me it should have been hot enough for the fan to need to kick on. I can't see the dash blower motor and engine fan being linked together to work. Weird.

The problem is that MBE engines are very flexible ana may be parametrised easily for any application.

They use ADM ECM in cabin (also known as FR (De) ore as VCU (En), it is used to control torque and RPM by iso 11992 line.

Engine is controlled by PLD ECU.

This unit may use any fan clutch, customer can choose any option and Daimler will fit it.

I saw two truck of the same year made for one company with totally different configuration. One with BW Vistronic fan, other with horton air clutch. So I cant be sure what kind of clutch is used till i hook up it with laptop

    DoubleGs Thanks this.
