No issues on flat land, unfortunately we are west of flagstaff on I-40( not flat) temperature gauge rises while going uphill, ECU maintenance required comes on, fan kicks on, and then stop engine fault, fan shuts off, truck stops. ONLY uphill! Help please....

Oh, and it will start right back up every time, run fine until we reach the next incline
-
Did you check the engine diagnostic and see what fault code it's giving you?
Are you low on coolant? -
Coolant level is good, the fan is not running long enough to cool it down to the 170-180 degree mark I have a code for a def sensor but my def has been deleted....PPID 278 FMI 9 I’ve had the DEF deleted for over 6 months no issues, until now. but why would it be fine on flat ground? literally it doesn’t pop up until I’m on a steep incline and the engine temperature gets to high. My fan is not kicking on properly

Engine ECU SA16 that’s all it says for that.
Instrumental cluster MID 140 FMI 9
That’s it -
Dunno if this will help you...
