It doesn't sound like his engine is worth exchange.

Many many rebuilt DD15’s fail early . The shop rebuilding them needs to be spotless. The tolerances are so tight that any error or contamination they fail. Boss drops a new crate in or parts out truck after his first few rebuilds by reputable shops failed early.

With what happened to his engine it will not be able to be rebuilt. It won’t even be good for a core. I would buy a new engine over a used one in a heartbeat.

Where are you getting your numbers? A modern DD15/13 at a minimum an inframe is going to start about 32K and thats bronze rebuild package.

    Magoo1968 Thanks this.

Oscar, we don’t know what happened to his engine, he has explained very little and the block doesn’t get destroyed by the oil cooler being defective, it may take out components but ruin the block ... very rare and very unusual. The same goes for the warranty, I don’t buy that the warranty isn’t going to cover the damage.

My post was based on him saying bingo to the oil pickup tube issue that is common with those engines.

The fact that he needs a new engine indicates his block is damaged somehow.

    Doesn't it?
