Please advise if you have heard anything about this.
My driver was driving my truck and from what I can see from the video camera and what he's telling me. He heard aloud noise and then seen a fire coming from behind the truck. He stopped and put out the fire underneath the truck. After getting the truck to the shop Kenworth diagnosed the situation as (oil cage cracking and causing plastic released into the engine). Please advise if you have heard anything about this issue before. Thanks in advance.

Kenworth had a recall on some alternator wiring a few years back IIRC. WFX had a truck we had put a PS hose on and then caught fire a week later.

WFX tried to bill me for the repair. I went and looked at the truck, and noticed the PS hose my tech had replaced was still intact, and noticed the fire appeared to have started further forward. We did not have contact anywhere near the origin of the fire.

I sent a fire investigator and he determined the fire originated near the back of the alternator. It was later determined a recall had been done incorrectly, and allowed the positive cable to the alternator to short to ground.

Not sure how yours looks, but on this truck the whole left side of the engine was burnt. You could tell the most intense heat was mid engine near the fuel supply and forward.

Oil doesn't normally start fires, unless in the exhaust.
