The company i was with in 2012 bought a 2011 with a d13 in December of ‘12. It was an under powered pos, i think rated at 430hp at the time. We conplained enough that they finally had it turned up. Bergey’s the local Volvo dealer told us “we can crank it up to 475hp. That’s it for that motor”.
So my info may be wrong, i never looked into it any, this could have been because of the low hp settings stock that it didn’t have the internals to support more than 475hp.
Bottom line on that truck, it was a left over for a reason. The rears were way to tall. It was 100% a flat land truck. Even after they turned it up it struggled to get climb an over pass. Lol.
2019 d13 or x15? What should I buy??

I have a theory that a 15l engine doesn't like that.(doesn't create enough heat in the system)
So i wonder if you will have more regens with the cummin vs your old D13.
Could you update us on that after you have run the truck for a while? -
Mine it says 500 hp on the door but other than that I dont know much. The weird thing is that It will pull the same with 10k lbs and 44k lbs going up hills. -
daf105paccar Thanks this.

D13 with XE package should do better then the X15 in MPG. Also the D13 will be in the first year of the new Commom rail fuel system. That might scare a few off on that alone.
Amantya Thanks this. -

Watch "Volvo Trucks – Common-Rail Fuel System" on YouTube https://youtu.be/-zUxIv6o14o
Dd15 has been a common rail system since inception and then the new ISX followed and now Volvo late to the party -

Reread what I wrote.
Volvo is the last manufacturer to begin using Common rail with the new emissions standards. Cummins has a well documented history with there pump problems. But this was about Volvo and Common rail.Last edited: Dec 18, 2018

I read a out it and it sound good to me. I dont know if my x15 has this, but so far I am getting 8.8 mpg with the new truck. The only think that I dont like so far that I didnt have this feeling with my 780, is the waves. When the road its kinda curvey it feels like I am in a small boat ♀️ on some waves lol. I had someone the other day complimenting my truck at a rest area and he said his new freightliner is much worse in that sense. I guess it waves like that because if the new suspension system but I am not sure. Im attaching a pic when i put my company name on the truck
