Resonance and resistance..For that you need an analyzer...Haveing a multi meter is a good idea to..
    Think of it this way...
You have an ole points/condencer type ign on a car....Yeap you can set the basics and it might work but till you get a timeing gun on it,you cant dial it in...
With factory ant on the latest style of plascadia, you cant adjust the antenna anyways so i wouldnt worry.....If you plan on a seperate coax/ant set up then i would be more concerned...

    madmoneymike5 Thanks this.

I'm headed back to the truck today so I'll report back with more range figures and a picture of the installation I came up with for the mic.

This is where I ended up hanging it. The only "drawback" is it sways side to side a lot, especially at low speed when the engine torque is really high and rocks the cab.

So far, the best I've heard reported was that first one. Out on the open highways, it seems much more difficult to get a response to a radio check. And the ones I have gotten, have all been from behind me! I can't seem to get a response from someone ahead of me. LOL

I've come to the conclusion that I have 3 miles range (at the best of circumstances) behind me, and maybe 1 ahead of me. I cannot get anyone to respond ahead of me. I'm only getting responses from drivers behind me, mostly from the opposing direction of travel, which would seem to indicate that they can't hear me until we pass each other?
