That's just normal weight. No big deal for the transmission.
Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
I know Kivi Bros does some minor heavy haul with regular joe blow Cascadias and DT12s. So yeah, it’ll do the job. @Winnyf1 maybe has some insight on that.

You guys know how it is issue wise? I’m looking at one with 400k miles. what to expect?

That's my limited experience with that tranny, thankfully I haven't blown one yet... -
4 months in an auto.
I still can't wait to get back to stick. -
It's an interesting learning curve. Your still shifting but it's the Jake you're working. If it's in CC and you engage the Jake it drops out. If you leave it on a steep hill, the Jake will come on eventually. What you CAN do is engaged any stage of the Jake at the top of, say Monteagle Pass, then set the cruise at 55 mph and it'll take itself across the three stages of the Jake and hold you. At the bottom, switch the Jake off and it'll resume the set speed. Very cool.
It can run away, just like any manual will, so be mindful that your not over revving.
The Split Shift Rod Was a titanium collar to prohibit excessive ware that caused it to drop to N when it didn't know what gear to go into next. Or 9 to 11 after N when it was way to early and you lost that speed as well. Annoying as hell.
I think the most frustrating thing of these transmission is that there is literally no serviceable aspects without dropping it out of the truck. And that alone is going to run you about $2500. I did the clutch, actuator and clutch brake after it left me stranded on the middle of the Chicago Tollway and I had to tow it. It had around 800,000 miles at the time and now at 880,000 miles I've got metal filings inside and am replacing the entire unit with a rebuilt, a new TCU and a CPC. With the core charge, around $6500US, expect this to run about $23,000US. I'm basing my figures on the current exchange rate as I'm doing mine in Canada. In hindsight, I should've considered this when I spent $7500 9mo ago on the clutch, actuator and clutch brake along with the labor. But hindsite is 20/20.KDHCryo Thanks this. -
I should mention I'm an O/O so I have the full range. Econo, Performance w/Kickdown, and Manual mode. And performance is more than a revolution but a torque curve as the DD15 is a multi torque engine. So it'll pull harder at the same RPM and it's obvious too. They also have built in GPS intelligence so it will avoid kicking off the cruise at set speed to allow the typical 2mph Droop range, but maintain engagement if you're at the bottom of a hill.
KDHCryo Thanks this.
