Yeah, I considered it but comparing resale and the weight savings I just went with the 18. Not sure if it will be worth my while knocking 500 pounds off the truck by dropping the sleeper size. Being we'll be a 2 truck operation, and our other truck being a Cascadia, I'm just really worried on not being able to haul at least 80% of what's on the load board, especially reefer loads from the PNW.

Maybe I should scrap this idea and spec a T680 or a 990 and see where I sit at with weight.

How often are you in the truck? My 60” modular is the same as the 72” aero and it’s fine for a couple nights, would be fine for a little more too if I had to, but I’m just lazy
990s are kinda growing on me, but if I was waiting this long to spend this much on a truck it would be exactly what I wantTug Toy Thanks this. -
Usually 1.5 to 2 weeks, run down to TX and back. I might have to bite the bullet cause this set up might cause too many issues that aren't worth my while. FML.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

I would just order what I wanted and then spec out a lighter weight wagon.

Super singles. I love mine. save 400 pounds. No issues in snow or heavy rain.
You could also run a carrier, since they weigh less? In my 10 months in reefer, I have come to like thermoking better, but I may have been tainted by a bad carrier unit.
I don't run cali, but rarely see over 43,000 requested in Florida. Most loads are under 40K. If I was specing a new trailer, I would spec all the insulation I could. So much of my work is frozen. You could also do super singles on the trailer. Another 400 pounds saved.
579 pete 72" on super singles, with super single trailer below.

I wish I had the under bed desk in my truck, if that is still an option.... I would get it.

I'm going to stick to duals, my father is the same as he despises Carrier units and is a Great Dane/ Thermo faithful. Maybe that's why I'm seeing a lot of guys run Carrier units who run long hoods, maybe cheaper and lighter?

Few hundred pounds, and I hear they cool better. So many love to stick to duals, but really ss are better for weight and mileage. I have blown three super singles, all recaps. 0 issues with my Michelin x-one's. For the trailer I might not blame you. I scratch my head what I would do with my steers when they are too worn out for me to keep on the steer axle. Would love to move them to a trailer for the last 5/100. If I was specing a o/o reefer I would do s600, super singles, and a lift axle. The lift axle would save me so much money on tolls roads.....

OH, and get the MX-13. Its lighter, and strong enough.
Tug Toy Thanks this. -
Can’t get the Paccar in a W900L.
-
a handful of states are charging for total
Axles now whether they are up or down, I believe NY is one of them, rotating them and doing a bit of empty miles would make the difference
super singles are all well and good until you blow one and can’t yank the casing off to limp it to the destination/tire shop to get it fixed…..
utility is a lighter trailer, doesn’t have the GD build quality but a utility will get you past ten years and at that point you are due to upgrade anyway IMO regardless of brand, absolutely NO to a carrier…
