21k only sounds high cause you aren't thinking of how much the tax payers will have to spend to fix that bridge.

You gotta get a lawyer..... sucks but there's no other choice.

I got a ticket kinda like that but I was mt and just a little over .... a local lawyer got it tossed ... still cost me a grand or so.

Justice maybe blind but she ain't cheap ..

First off, you could have pulled flashers and stopped. Then the cops would have had to help you, instead of screw you.

Had a trainee get caught out there on a bridge that the cops knew was going to be torn down in a month. $12,000 fine. He showed up in court (along with a bunch of other drivers) and told the judge to put him in jail, wasn't going to pay it. Got it reduced to $2,000.

Might be a common scam for Chicago area, I don't know. Good luck.

I was in the same situation in Canada. But because I didn't have service I asked a local citizen to call the police. The bridge didn't look safe I asked them about it and it was restricted. It said the weight limit but it was in kilometers. Two officers came blocked the road and I backed out of it and they gave me truck directions to the customer. You need to take all signs serious after all you're suppose to be the professional.Signs are not for decoration.I do however think 21k is too steep of a fine though.
