Hi folks, new here. I'm going to give you another heads up about werner.

Basically i'm going to sum this up really short. 2 days in orientation, boring, but wasnt that bad. Waited 3 days for a trainer (was suprised to get one quick) .....(what kinda trainer gets off the truck) a long haired, greasy dirtball. (explain more later) so then i'm off to my venture, told him that i havent driven a tractor trailer in over a year, and my skills were rusty, well 2 days went by 'okay' then the yelling started, and SCREAMING, i'm talking verbal abuse kind of stuff, so finally we were in allentown and i flipped out and said I had enough I want another trainer. I wait the next day because the SDM only has one person in the office at night, and they rarely pick up the phone cus there playing video games or watching tv. Then I get a hold of someone the next day and told them I want another trainer, I can not learn in these 'expecations' and 'anger' he is giving me. I told them we are not compatible, hell he is a 53 year old grown man that acts like a 6 year old momma boy. They ended up telling me to stick it out and deal with it, ok so I did.

As the days progressed I was feeling lonielyness and like a piece of garbage he downgraded me, made me feel like crap, then I called SDM again last night which was sunday, told them I wanted to get PTO and to get autohrized to get off the truck in youngstown ohio, since my dad drives for a local company and is going to pick me up, and i already have my 130hrs done, so I should be able to get hometime, right? wrong...they wanted me to go into the springfield, OH terminal, 2 hours away, out of route for the trainer, to take me there, and for him to get another student.

So what I pretty much did was called them up and told them I VOLUNTARY QUIT, and he said why? I said cause you guys won't get me off the truck and he said well that load is my priority, and i said, well my priority was to have another trainer 2-3 weeks ago and you wouldn't so XXXXX your priority, and told them i'm getting off the truck. Trainer tried telling me I'm not getting off, etc etc, I ended up off the truck and got my way, now my dad should be here in about 3 hours. Thanks to me spending 100 bucks on a hotel for the night, and lots of waiting.

Any new drivers, thinking about going to werner I highly suggest not doing it, whatever you read in rip off reports, etc is definetly true. you don't believe me, ask around at fuel stops they'll tell you. It's not lies, it's all true.

Now I am stuck, jobless, and probably a messed up DAC.

    :biggrin_2553:

This trainer thinks hes god to all driving cause hes from michigan, but yet we got lost in New york, and he side swiped trailers at a D/Y

you tell me...just another heads up

if you guys get into any situations where you wanna get off and your close by home, you can, do a voluntary quit, or call state police and tell them there unwilingly keeping you on the truck, thats considered kidnap.

Would you want someone to do that to you? If not should not ask it to be done to others. "Do unto others as you want them do unto you..."

Sounds like you had a bad time from the start, and left me wondering will that be the way it will go for you no matter where you go. Where ever you go next you should try to have a good attitude going into it, be comfortable or it will end up the same.

If you are talking about the 5 wheel release that may get you in lots of trouble from the federal goverment for pulling that little stunt.
That is what my old trainer told me.

I just wonder why these trainers cant act in a more professional manner. Coastie, think you need to think about his situation. Would you like getting yelled and cursed at continuously. I know I wouldn't and it would be hard to hold back if its as bad as he is making it out to be. Don't blame you, move on! And good for you not taking crap from them. Thats the problem, he has probably had other students put up with it to long.

Well for one if you training is that bad, and they refused to give you a new trainer, then you have a right to quit, and then fight any misleading information on your Dac. But violence won't get you now where, but behind bars..

You have to remember Werner is not the only company with bad trainers, you will find them at all companies no matter who you go with.. Just try to go in with a positive attitude, and if you have issues and your student DM won't help you out, then my suggestion would be to talk to the safety director next.. Good luck in were ever you end up..

Weird, I am sorry to you guys if I came off as an..you know.. but I just feel really downgraded, and I left for werner with a postitive attitude thinking, now I will get good training, and a good trainer, that will help me out, teach me all the fundamentals. But it wasn't like that. How can you have a 52 year old trainer screaming and yelling to the top of there lungs everyday for a month straight. I'm sorry but after dealing with that I don't care how normal you are you start to go crazy. I sucked it up and kept thinking about getting my own truck but it was unbearable, I am from Pittsburgh Pa, and i'm just lettin you know, driving in new jersey, and new york really is really nerve racking and made me nervous as it is. I don't think you guys quiet understand the consiquences I was in. I had no help from anybody at all such as SDM, Dispatchers, Etc. Nobody cared, all they told me was at the last minute when I said i wanted a new trainer yesterday is the load is our priority and I told them my priority is a new trainer and if you can't give me that I quit. I'm sorry but I refuse to let a company push me to the point of being treated like a dog, he's had 4 students in the past 2 months and they all quit. Tell me how great of a trainer he is? He's two faced too. Very bad. I don't condone werner one bit, if you like what they sound like go for it, but i'm telling you all, it's a bad bad mistake!

You start in your post and say that you haven't driven in over a year but are listed as a student. Graduated from driving school and then a year later found a job? Good luck in your search and check your DAC to see what they put on there. Might try a local job for a while first.

Saw 3 Weiners at the I55/70 S. Ill scale getting the shakedown. =How many Weiners does it take to scale? (3)
