Load rating should be higher for the 11r, but rolling resistance is also higher. Availability of each varies in different areas. I'd say the balloon tires are better off the pavement , too, but there isn't a great deal of difference.

i've noticed that the low 24 spare i have for the trailer is the same size as the high 22 spare i have for the truck. both sitting on the deck.

I would say 11r22.5's are better. Certainly nicer riding, plus they're much more available.

I never had figured out which is better overall. I went from low pro 22.5 to standard 22.5 the 11r22.5 are the same height as the low pro 24.5. the lower pro gives less r.r. but with the bigger tire you will have the rpm's lower at the same m.p.h. so less rpm's, save fuel. my rpm's are at 1500 when I am at 62 m.p.h. with the low pro's it would be 1600 this is theory of course. still not sure which is better on fuel. the only reason I went to the taller tire, was my truck's top speed was 68 @ 1850 the taller tire gave me more top end.

If you need the weight capacity of the 11R you could go to load range H on the 24.5LP, but they are even harder to find. That's what I put on my steer axle as I was often too close to the limit for G.

If you run virgin tires check with your tire shop about casing values. The tire shop I use pay double for 11r22.5 compared to 24.5lp.

in my neck of the woods the middle ga area there are plenty of lp22.5 and 11r22.5 around a used 11r24.5 is like gold

Big tire looks cooler than baby wheels.
