I’m going with a 26k trailer. I didn’t realize until I got a detailed price quote that over 26k GVWR on the trailer gets you hit with a Federal Excise Tax of 10% on the purchase price.
TexMountain Thanks this. -
You can avoid the FET by buying used if you want.rccarlson22 Thanks this.

As CHEAP as I am, I want new equipment for the business -
Yeah... new equipment doesn't necessarily mean no problems. Got 2 brand new trailers with nothing but problems.
Losing working days because your new trailer needs to go all the way back to the dealer for free repairs really sucks. Both trailers went back for repairs within 3 weeks of getting them.
Might as well have bought used.
Then again, a lot less things can go wrong with a flatbed rather than a car hauler.
Good luckrccarlson22 Thanks this. -

Get a triple axle trailer. It will take the weight off of the rear axle of your truck. Just make sure the trailer is level as possible because it will eat tires if not.
-
A triple 8k? Do you have one?
-
No, not for what you want to do with it. sure, it will do it, but not for long...
-
To add... There is a reason nobody is hauling those heavy loads.
