25 watts TV will not work on a 100 watts inverter?

I got this inverter, I've used it for my laptop and for charging cell phone, I even get an extension cable and I can charge my laptop and cell phone at the same time, it worked great for a long time, no problem occurred but today I got a new LED TV and I tried it with this inverter and sparks come flashing in the inverter, and light smokes come out, so I took it out and whenever I tried to plug in the inverter in the cigarette port, same thing happened even when the TV is not plugged in so I figure I just fried this inverter with this TV and it's no good anymore, but the thing is, this TV uses 25 watts, and this is a 100 watts battery, why it will not work?
Or do I need to get a higher inverter for this TV and also a PS3, for both plug in at the same time and working without any problems?

    Thanks

Initial draw when the TV is first turned on is way more than the 100 watt inverter can handle would be my guess....yes on the bigger inverter

Depends where you want it plugged in... DC connector - they will run about 400w. Off the batteries - depends how high you want to go.

Understand,, the bunk, TV, and ref outlets are rated for about 5amps... to use the 400 watt inverter you will need to use the cigarette socket in front. (rated 20-30amps)

Anything that has a big capacitor in it has an initial power surge as the capacitor charges instantly. Though a TV doesn't draw much after start up, the old tube TV's steps the voltage up to about 30,000V at the tube the second you turn it on. The next step up is a 400 watt invertor, that's what I would use.

The same goes with a microwave. I learned the hard way when I bought a 800 watt inverter for a 700 watt microvave. Doesn't work.

Biggest one you can afford, reason I say this is because at some point you may want/need more power for other things like fridge, microwave, etc..

    just a thought..

well the only thing I really want to run is the TV and either a PS3 or Xbox 360 running at the same time, would a 400watt inverter handle it? and do I have to plug the inverter in the front cigarette socket?
The TV is 25W and 360 I think is 150W and I'm not sure about the PS3, so let's say I got 200W combined, can I use the 400W inverter?

And I heard if I get a bigger inverter, I have to plug it directly to the battery instead of the cigarette socket, and I dont wanna do that

I don't think a 400 watt will handle an Xbox and TV. The 400 watt rating is probably in actuality, a "peak" (momentary) rating, continuous may be significantly lower. Also, not all inverters are built the same and I've found the ratings to be highly suspect at best.

If you employer would allow it, invest in a 2500 watt inverter. That way you'll have all the power you need and they usually are modified sine wave which many of your electronics need. Plus they have features like watt display and low voltage shutdown.

ok I just got a 500 watts inverter, do I have to plug that inverter in the front cigarette socket or is it fine on the sleeper socket?
