Goto YouTube and type in Dan Lok. Watch his video called "follow your passion". I made all of my kids watch it. Truer words have never been spoken.
Sorry I'm not a tech savvy person or I'd link it here for you.
I graduated magna ### laude from a university in 1996 with a degree in business. 3 weeks later I was driving a truck.
Only you know what you want to do and as long as you support yourself who gives a darn what anyone thinks of your decision. Trucking is a tough way to make a buck but every career has negatives.

Also to add, you'd be shocked at how many people waiting tables, tending bar, driving trucks or whatever have college degrees because they thought that's what you're supposed to do.
Specialize. Don't run gypsy freight all over the place. Pick a profitable lane and watch out who you take advice from. If you do what everyone else does, you'll make pretty darn close to what they make.

    Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

I bet those heavy haul companies have engineers working for them....checking bridges, routes, how some 3 million pound load will get from here to there... I'm sure there's lots more to it than meets the eye..
Keep updating us though. Well spoken and intelligent. You'll make it whichever way you go. Perhaps put a little more thought into the post about do you want a family someday. I'm getting to a point I will be forced to decide on that soon. But now I've got my own company. Do I go back to being a company man so I can be home more? Or do I expand? I'm happy right where I'm at. Work wise and money wise at least. But now I question what's the whole point? Anyway that's far enough into my black hole of a mind.
