I just contacted a Volvo dealership and that is the price quote they gave me for a new Volvo 860 with just a few extra goodies (fridge and inverter) added on to it. Does this sound right to you? I have heard that new over the road trucks go for about $160,000. All of the sudden three-year-old trucks for $70,000 are starting to look real attractive.

rabbiporkchop and Steel Dragon Thank this.

That price is ridiculous, keeping and maintaining my sixteen year old 770 looks like a sure winner after seeing the current pricing of new and used trucks.

The price of a new 2018 780 is around $150k, besides a redesigned hood, headlights, aero skirts and interior on the 860, and by looking at the build sheet, I don't see where Volvo can justify tacking on a extra $110k.

For $260k you can buy yourself four used tractors and make your money work for you, or swing a deal on two new 780's.

This is a 2018 780. 150,000. I'm sure you can find one with less then 200,000 miles and save a third And you want a APU

Well geesh, when you install a mini frig for $1450.00....

Volvo spends like the government. Buying $50 hammers and $300 dollar toilet seats.

I’m sure that if you contact the sales rep that gave you that sheet you could ask him. I’m also sure that he will tell you that price is the MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) and then he’ll tell you what you could buy it for.

Heres a price on a new Cascadia.
New Truck Inventory - Freightliner Northwest
What makes Volvo think people are willing to spend 100,000 more? I hate it when people think I’m a chump.
