This is Discracefull.....Here i am 28 years experance..Class A, All endorsements, No tickets, No accadents..worked 3 years company driver 8 tears OO I was one of the first OO in MA to pull Double 48' trailers....When my Doughter was born she had medical issues..I needed insurance it wasent an option...I sold my Dream..and came off the road and worked in construction...i ran, repaired and moved Heavy equipment and drove asphalt tankers...all that dosent count....I would think a company or insurance company would look at me as a premium...28 years all indorsements no accadents or tickets dosent smoke or drink clean cut with a TWIX card.....Nope i had a hard time finding work...i did find work driving a dropDeck i was there 5 months I was out 2 weeks at a time dooing LTL work From Boston to SD and from NH to FL... thay let me go becaus thay wanted someone who will stay out for at least a month or two....I think thay wanted a hermit.....any way i guess now i have 5 months recent OTR experance...the company that I worked at is giving me a good referance (I Checked)...I am still having the same problem This is Insane....Thease companys want me to retrain...ride with a trainer for a month or two than thay want to pay me crap like i am a Rookie......I have offers to Drive OO trucls but when you look at the truck it is not road worthy...No tires and no brakes....and they all have the same story...."just run around the scales"..and when i get paid i will pay you.....and i pay 25% of the NET...not the Gross...and on a 1099...that means you pay your own taxes so deduct about 30% from that.....

My dream is to be a OTR Driver i loved it when i was dooing it and in the last 5 months i realized i really love it....I am just having a hell of a time dooing it....My Goal is to evendutally become an OO again But the time is not rite now...I need to finish my Divorse...Before i throw a truck in the mix...Pay off all my Bills I dont want to start "Go Broke Trucking"...Have some money behind me to pay all my expenses...and then i will buy a Truck....Until then any Advise would be Great..... Thanks

Hang in there man! Start talking to some small outfits.
I went through the same crap a few years ago after taking a year off.

I found the company i am with now (18 trucks) after working as a fill in driver for a LTL company.

Look on Craigslist and the local newspaper.....That is where some of the small mom and pop type places post ads.

    Wargames Thanks this.

A lot of these companies are going to look at you and see a quick money makeing team operation by putting you with a trainer. I went thru the same thing ( less exp. tho) When I went with Crete they said (IIRC) 6-8 weeks with a trainer BUT 3 weeks later I was in my own truck. Check them out it can't hurt! I doubt anyone will come out and promise or even say they'll cut ya loose early just because that puts them on the hook if you do need more training. Keep looking and good luck.

Well the fact that i just spent 5 months OTR averaging 2500-2800and one week i did 3400 miles a week....that should speak for itself.....the bigest problem is the companys are offering me rookie money...like .29 -.34 for the first year with a .01 rase after that...i realize that i will not make the $80-90 Grand i was making in the union operating heavy equipment...i would still be dooing that but there is no work in Boston...and i realy want to drive for the rest of my life.....the company i was with i was making .40 all miles
