Try the online applications. Fill out one application on each website. It's just another option to try.

    Google : truck driving jobs

I hear ya bud, NO FREAKIN WAY would I do the Trainer BS, have some kid with 6mo. to a year TELL ME how to drive a truck, I dont have the nerves for childs play in trucking. Go with some of the Local companies, UPS/Freight, Fed/Ex, CONWAY, ABF, YRC, local LTL, You can make easily, $100K. When you run for them, THEY`LL know if your a good driver or not.

I worked for a GREAT company back in the late 80`s - early 90`s, owner got tangled up with some young girl, lost the company to his now X. Found the Operations Team at another company, GREAT COMPANY, talked to them, and the one guy says, COME ON BACK, we almost have the Band back. I mean one heck of a great team. I said, I would love to but, Im ready to Retire. I asked them, You know I read about the Veterans starting out at a new comapany and they want you to go with a Trainer. I said, DONT EVEN THINK OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT. They said, with you and some of the others, not a chance, we give you a Truck, LOCAL DAY CAB, and a route, AND GO. Now thats the way it should be. TOO ALL the big so called companies that do the Trainer BS on Veteran Drivres, SHAME ON YOU. Thats to Polite way I have to word this, Or I will get in trouble, Not going to do that.

You are rite...I understand the problem Its the Insurance companys so they say or is it...Think about it I have 28 years with a perfect record...The companys can say i have no experance in their oppinion and they can hire me at the rookie rate...instead of what i'n worth and the recruters all say the same thing...take the job suck it up for a year and you will get a raise....02 cents..at that rate it would take me 10 years to get to the rate i should be making now....what a scam....thats like hiring a accountant with 28 years of experance and offering him a job in the file room.....the problem is that the job i dont take someone will...thats why the big trucking outfits have 98% turn around in drivers drivers just keep going from job to job..thats a problem...but they are making big money on that the companys are getting cheep labor...at our expence

On the other side one of the companys i applied to approvied my application..well almost...they want 6 months recent OTR experance...according to them i have 5...I am now approved for their $4500 interest free school...and after that i will spend up to 3 months with a trainer to become a pro driver...well i think i will just do that...whare should i sign...thats a great scam...how many people Dont complete that school and owe them for the school oh ya and they also offer interest free loan for room and living expenses...well i got to go and get my bags packed....

It's not the insuance, these companies have figured out they can say that and drop the pay. It's all a scam. I laugh every time I hear someone say "well just do the year and then you can get something better" . That just makes the top management happy at these companies. They just see more bonuses for them. Sorry for the rant I hope you have good luck with your job search.

I know this dump called US Xpress will hire you with 3 months current. Or as others said look on craigslist. LTL is good too for a guy with not much current experience. You will have to work your way back up there too though.

Maybe at some places it is but the big OTR companies just want to work you for nothing, so they come up with that lame excuse. Most of them are self insured.
