This is the second posting in a couple weeks I have seen from a Prime trainee on here looking for a trainer to ride with. Is that the new system at Prime? Did they partner with this site to pair trainee's and trainer's? Maybe Prime should only train enough newbies that they have trainers available.

Right now the only way a female is getting hired is unless she actually knows a trainer that agrees to take her on.

Trainees are waitng less than a week to get a trainer... unlike some other companies I have read about, where the trainee is sitting at home for a couple weeks.

Trainers have a job too... they cant just sit in Springfield and wait for a new batch of trainees to be ready. There is the logistics of getting a load into or passing through Springfield.

My last Trainee lasted less than a week... too much pressure from family and stress from being away from home. There are alot of people "trying out" this profession and finding out its not as "glamorous" as they thought. The reality of life on the road sets in and they quit.

Supply and demand isnt easy to control on both sides... Trainers drop off trainees that have completed their training and then inform management they want to go "solo" for a few weeks before taking on a trainee. Its voluntary so a trainee cant be forced on you.

I have to admit frustration has set in. It isn't only with Prime, but all the training companies I have contacted. I thought about giving up, but this is something I want too badly to give up. I talked with a friend from Prime last night and he told me to hang in and not give up hope yet. He thinks that once the economy begins to turn more of the companies will begin taking on more trainees. While I believe being a female has been my ultimate roadblock, it isn't the only one.

I can fully understand what U2 is saying about trainers taking a break for a while. The friend I spoke to has trained several and he is just not ready to take anyone on for a while. He needed a break, and I can't fault him for that. Even if he were to take on a trainee, I have told him upfront I would not go with him. No matter how good of friends we are, to mix business with friendship is asking for trouble. Neither of us want something that may be said or done while training to spoil our friendship, and our friendship is more valuable to each of us.

I have decided at this point in time to attempt getting my Class B and at least there may be a better chance of me finding some type of employment while still pursuing my Class A. If I can get in with an expedited company driving a straight truck, or possibly driving a trash or dump truck, at least I can get a paycheck. No income since June 1st has put some serious worries and pressure on me. I've gone back to looking for office work and can't even get that. With 20+ years experience, jobs that I am totally qualified for I can't even apply for, as they now require a minimum of an Associates or Bachelor's degree.

The 3 weeks I spent out on the road with another friend showed me that I can deal with being gone. I honestly didn't want to come home when I did, but finances dictated my return. I haven't had a decent night of sleep since I got back. I miss the sound of the truck and the truckstops.

My best to all of you who are lucky enough to have found a trainer and I hope your experiences are good and you find the road fever burns in you hotter than ever once you get out there. I know it certainly is burning in me. ~Hugs~

Drive for awhile - I'm not sure what the minimum is accident free. Then decide you really want to share your personal space with a newb.
