I know 3 former coworkers thats still in cryo. Witch one delivered to NASA yesterday. And all 3 deliver weekly to NASA. No problem going in or coming out and they have there gun in the truck.

I know 2 more guys that go onto an Air Force Base daily with there firearms. And nothing has ever happened.

I'm not saying try to walk into a Federal Court House with one. But most if not all of the federal places that a driver will go to. There is no trouble to get into because you have one.

I've never heard of any driver getting arrested for having his or her firearm with them. While trying to enter a Military Installation, or other federally owned facilities.

And finally, how do you have a load going to any Federal facility and not know it based on the BOL and load remarks?

When you pick up a load of civilian generators and the BOL says deliver to MWR Warehouse, Mechanicsburg, PA. That one was a total cluster - I didn't know it was a military base, my trainee only had a paper license, the guard got an entire hive up his rear about the trailer registration being permanently affixed to the trailer nose and no one knew where we were supposed to go.

Or a load of lockers going to "Bob's Builders, 231 Range Road, Crestview FL". That one was my first year. Running recaps and short on my 70 so I had to shut down at noon, then start at 2300 to make my 0900 appointment. 0705 the QC and my phone start blowing up - the contractor had emailed the shipper the previous day about "yeah, this is going to the 7th SFG, so make sure the driver isn't a felon and he's got to go to the main base first". The shipper emailed the broker, who emailed our logistics arm, who emailed the CSR, who emailed my DM, who had already gone home.

So, yeah, I can see it happening.

Didn't have any problem with it delivering at an Army post. They didn't ask, I didn't tell.

But when I delivered at a nuclear power plant they had a lockbox inside their office where they told us to "put anything you don't want us to see while we search your truck." And their search was extremely thorough, once on the way in, and again on the way out.

Both of those were before 9/11, so policies and procedures have almost certainly been updated since then.
