The problem with that is you must claim the prize in your name. You can't use a trust or other instrument to keep your anonymity and/or limit tax exposure.

The person suing says he has video of himself buying the ticket, so we'll see.

The winner that claimed the prize is an Eagle Scout, so it would be out of character for him to rip someone off.

    Interesting story.

For a billion dollars the cost of making an AI video is negligible.

Showing he bought the ticket doesn't mean anything. He didn't sign it. He has to prove it was stolen.

True, but I'd rather deal with tax problems then to have someone else cash it in.

Credible witness that he did buy the ticket:
Urachi “Reggie” Romero claims his former tenant, Jose Rivera, showed him the winning ticket before the drawing and even explained why he chose each number. Rivera has sued the official Powerball winner, Edwin Castro, and Romero, claiming they stole the valuable ticket from him.

Dude can have all the witnesses and video footage of him buying the ticket he wants. He still has to prove that it was actually stolen from him. Probably just trying to get the guy to settle out of court. Personally I wouldn't settle. Prove I stole it...
