I'm very nervous about my 3 incendents that I have had with my current job. As a newbie, I damaged a rim, and have had 2 minor backing accidents with minor damage under $1,000. None are on my DAC, but I'm nervouse about if I will be able to ever be able to get another job. I'm ashamed of what's happend. what drives me crazy is that the damage is so minor, but as far as my company is concerned, it is listed as a backing accident! am I stuck? will I ever be able to move onto anohter company with my record? thanks

As soon as you decide to move forward espcially under a yr, then most likely they will list the accidents and do something to screw you DAC. By you checking the DAC right now is insignificant because as long as you're employed with them, listing the incidents on your DAC will only make their insurance go up. It's after the fact that you can be screwed. Be careful and pay the dues then go to a better outfit. Good luck be safe and drive careful!

dont leave until AFTER you have applied and the company youre applying to has alrdy done the backround check etc, dont quit before you have done everything including the physical w/ new company (if possible). also it would be best if you also gave two weeks notice, but not until after everything is set including physical like mentioned above.

(they will most likely release you immediately anyway.)

it really shouldnt affect you,if you bring in your dmv report, and your csa sheet and your former company slaps some stuff on your dac after you join w/ this company it SHOULDNT make a bit of difference.

it wouldnt be a terrible idea to stay w/ your current company for a bit longer though, they didnt fire you and thats great and you can get some more experience...i would reccomend getting out and looking when backing, especially if youve had 3 backing incidents. if youre planning to go to another OTR company, youre prly better off staying put until you have at the very least a little over a year,if not 2 or 3...

dont jump from 1 company to the next, there honestly isnt a huge difference unless youre going local or LTL.

those incidents/accidents will always show up on your DAC. sure you CAN get a job before your current employer puts them on your DAC, but sooner or later they WILL COME BACK to haunt you...

as a newbie you are experiencing what some do go thru and that is careless handling of the truck. no matter how you say it, slice it spread it on your crackers, you are still at fault for your incidents/accidents.

the damage may "seem minor" to you, (under a $1,000 IS NOT MINOR DAMAGE...!!!) but to a trucking company, multiply ALL the damages ALL the newbies do in a months time, and you can see why so many newbies get fired and DAC'd big time...

you best had better G.O.A.L. when you back up, and back up carefully....your next job may fire you on the spot, and they WILL put something on your DAC like your current company most certainly will.

good luck, as you need it.

Any app I've seen with a sizable company, asks on it if you have had any, how many, and what kind of accident. If you answer no, simply put, you're lying. What happens then, when they find out you falsified your app? I know, you'll be on the street with even less of a chance being hired.
Best thing to do? Stay where you are, cleanup your record, ie. stay clean for a year, then apply elsewhere, and DO NOT falsify anything. Some of the companies do lie, they believe in double standards, do you?:biggrin_25525:

Great advice! Theres no way I would be deceptive with any future employer..... I was just wondering what my chaces are to ever move onto another company with my record. Thanks for your feedback. I'm going to stay where I'm at, always get out and look, and stay careful. Thanks again.
